Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Olysta Baumann 10/29/2023 11:19 AMOverall, my campus echo challenge has been going great thus far! The daily actions that I challenged myself with is "skip the straw" and "use reusable bags." In many cases I have always preferred to drink out of a straw when I buy a drink rather than not having one. Therefore, this led me to always using a plastic straw when I bought a drink. Since I have started this challenge, I have bought metals straws that I have taken with me when I go buy a drink. Instead of taking a plastic straw I will use my metal one instead. I gave my roommate one of the metals straws I bought, and she has also been bringing her metal straw when she gets drinks! When I went shopping for food yesterday, I brought two tote bags with me to carry my groceries in instead of using the plastic bags from the store. I plan on continuing to bring metal straws when I buy drinks instead of using plastics ones as well as continuing to bring tote bags with me when I get my groceries.
