I will meet 2 new neighbor(s) each day.

Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 60-minute walk outside each day.
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.

Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
I will prevent water runoff and increase absorbency by mulching the base of plants and trees at my home or work.

Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus to reduce pollution in the environment and in local communities.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

Lucas Knopsnyder 10/13/2023 8:03 AMI feel like the challenge is going well. I've had no problems with any of the actions so far. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMany people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?
Lucas Knopsnyder 10/12/2023 7:15 PMI would agree it is a better option for everyone and its way healthier the problem is it is too expensive for to many people and needs to decrease in price to be used everywhere. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Lucas Knopsnyder 10/05/2023 2:24 PMYes, I do agree with what Kathleen Dean Moore says about gratitude. We can use gratitude as individuals by helping each other or ourselves, which can lead to a better society. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Lucas Knopsnyder 10/04/2023 7:46 AMI experienced the beauties of the world. I enjoyed walking before I even did this experience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIn what ways can you create more real and meaningful interactions with friends — or strangers — each week?
Lucas Knopsnyder 10/04/2023 7:36 AMI can introduce myself to people and be respectful and responsible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Lucas Knopsnyder 10/04/2023 7:13 AMYou could turn off electric items that you are not using at the time. You could also go outside and just go for a walk and not be around electricity. You could use solar power as well. Unlike others, I don't use that much electricity in my zip code.
