Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 45-minute walk outside each day.
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 20 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard or local community garden.
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with durable non-plastic options.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
O̶v̶e̶r̶t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶e̶r̶ O̶v̶e̶r̶t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶e̶r̶ 10/16/2023 1:02 AMIt’s the little things in life that make it worth it. It never hurts to slow down and appreciate the things that will always be a part of your day-to-day routine-
Susan G 10/16/2023 8:43 PMWell said, I agree! It's something we all need to remember no matter what kind of day we're having.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
O̶v̶e̶r̶t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶e̶r̶ O̶v̶e̶r̶t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶e̶r̶ 10/15/2023 3:32 PMI feel like coffee cups or single-use drink cups are where I fail to avoid single-use plastics. It’s just hard to avoid when most anywhere just serves them to you. Tim’s has been getting easier since I only order hot drinks in paper cups, but for the rest most places still give plastic cups. I’ve started using a reusable water bottle with water, it both eliminates the need to buy the drinks in plastic cups and is more healthy for me.
