REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Maya Pattanayak 11/21/2023 10:01 AMIt can support people in growing their own food for themselves and their communities. If everyone knows how to grow their own food supply they won’t need to rely on unhealthy, processed, unlocal food for nourishment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityDo people with economic privilege have a responsibility to consume and own less? How can the concept of "reduce" be presented to those who may be struggling to have enough food, clothes, shelter?
Maya Pattanayak 11/17/2023 9:42 AMI think that if you are able to, you should buy better quality clothes that will last you longer. Alternatively, you can just buy second-hand clothes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?
Maya Pattanayak 11/16/2023 9:56 AMLess energy, more health issues, and sickness, therefore less ability to effectively learn or do their jobs. Having healthier people can help a community overcome its issues by having more people able to help with a problem. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Maya Pattanayak 11/09/2023 10:03 AMThere are many events held often in the Asheville area that will collect things that can't just get put in your home recycling bin. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteIn what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?
Maya Pattanayak 11/09/2023 10:02 AMMost waste sites are concentrated around cities. The places most impacted by this are the poorer communities that the waste sites are closer to. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
