  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (school, work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

Since we have a little bit of a walk to practice almost everyday, my teammates take turns driving everyone across campus to eliminate how many cars are running.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I find myself super lucky in the exercise and fitness category because I play a sport and I am able to work out almost everyday with my teammates and we spend a good amount of time outside in nature!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

One of the barriers that stands between me and my use of reusable water bottles is first the taste of tap water because I am very specific about my water and what kinds I drink. Another barrier is that it is just easier to grab a plastic water bottle when running out the door. To make using a reusable water bottle a permanent habit I would definitely have to work harder to transfer over to that lifestyle and force myself to drink tap water and better manage my time so I always can refill my water.

Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

Growing up my family used mugs all the time to drink our tea. But it is hard to stay away from the mini one time use cups that you can grab and go. So I would consider one thing that stands in my way to fully transfer over is having to carry around a mug for the rest of the day after finishing my tea. Another thing that stands in my way would be the way mugs usually do not have a lid and this is inconvenient when you are always on the go. But these challenges are not big enough to stand in the way of me finding a way around the inconveniences that mugs bring up. By making this small difference it will make me feel happy to know that I am doing my best to help the environment.
